Alabama Chanin has been creating hand-sewn garments from their headquarters in Florence, Alabama, since 2000—utilizing organic cotton and sustainably-sourced materials. Local artisans use traditional hand-sewing methods that have been refined and modernized as part of their contemporary designs.
Swans Island Company is rooted in the relationship between pure fibers, time-honored process, and craftsmanship. Creating home textiles and accessories from their headquarters on the coast of Maine since 1992, their artisans use certified organic merino wool and locally sourced fine wools from family-run New England farms. Their fine all-natural yarns are hand-dyed at the Swans Island studio in Maine then handwoven and knit into classic designs.
It is through these shared principles that Alabama Chanin and Swans Island Company are delighted to announce a collaboration resulting in a line of knit and woven accessories. Swans Island knits and weaves the accessories from their facility in Maine. Intricate embroideries are then hand applied by local Alabama artisans using 100% organic cotton jersey from Alabama Chanin and organic hand-dyed yarns from Swans Island.
